In the Volcano

Chantilly snarled threateningly.
"I did not expect that moronic firey furrball to be able to prduce so many babies." she growled, taking a step towards her. However, she froze suddenly as a voice filled her head, and also entered Daybreak's. However, it did not enter Brook's. Evidently, the speaker either did not wish to speak with Brook, or simply was not aware of her presence.

"...Daybreak..." the voice murmered quietly, an echoing voice like it was being transmitted from somewhere far off. It seemed that whatever the voice was, it had shut down Chantillys' system. She froze helplessly, her face frozen in a glare, unable to move.

And the voice, it came again, a mournful, despairing, familiar echo.

"...Daybreak..."

As the voice bounced off the insides of Daybreak's mind [and that of the frozen Chantilly's], strange, unnearthly noises also accompanied it. The wolf calling obviously wanted attention.

Daybreak's ears twitched, unnaturally. The wicked glint from his eye gone. His tail stopped swishing from side to side, and remained neutral.

He was listening.

Actually listening.

The voice raised to a terrified pitch. The voice was yelling in despair and terror now.

"DAYBREAK! DAYBREAK!"

Chantilly gave a low moan of pain. A few words managed to escape her frozen lips.
"My orders have been aborted... My orders have been aborted... ordrs me abrrrzz..." she trailed off into a series of bleeps and buzzes. Blue flames burst from te heart of the puppet wolf and tore up her back. Her mechanical noises relapsed into silence and her eyes went black and hollow. The flames continued burning long after the puppet's body was but a mere charred heap on the ground. They did not just burn her body - Apose's flames, in her real rage, burned even her soul - she no longer existed. It was clear faliure had not been an option for Chantilly - and she had failed.

The voice continued screaming. It was a painful scream. However, as it got louder, its location could be pinpointed - it seemed to be coming from up the volcano somewhere. About three-quarters of the way up - that was where the Orchard was.

Daybreak did not spare Brook a glance. As soon as Chantilly had been engulfed in Apose's flames, the fourth original had shot off the ground, shooting upwards towards the mouth of the volcano.

And then, he was gone.

"Daybreak!" Brook cried. She was alone, again. Who could she trust? Who? Who wouldn't leave her when she needed help?

Before now, even with everything, her heart had always been good. She'd fought the demon that tried to kill everyone so no-one had to suffer. But now she was as broken as the puppet. Ignoring the puppies that cried for milk, she wandered over to where the broken thing had been destroyed. Was that all she was? A puppet? She spat on the floor, then growled, her ruined face contorting so it was uglier than usual.

"Fine. Then I shall die. But I shall have fun whilst I do it." And that moment, she murmured a pact - if she died, she'd bring anyone she could down with her. Starting with Daybreaks' children.

Itami glared between her three siblings, spying one out and leaping for it. Panikku. She felt her paws hit floor, and then fur. Warm mum fur.

Kaosu rolled head-first across the floor, crshing into Saigui's legs.

Brook leapt for the first pup - Panikku - jaws wrapped around the puppies neck. With a growl and the puppy squealing for mercy, she bit down.

Itami watched, unaware of what was going on.

It was then, after a loudish crack, the puppy went limp in her jaws. She dropped it, then sung lamentfully "Dead puppies aren't much fun." Then, she turned on Itami.

"Dead puppies!" Itami chorused.

"What?" Brook shook her head, shaking Itami too. "Shut up!"

"Dead puppies aren't much fun..." Itami echoed quietly.

"You're a dead puppy now." And like Panikku, killed Itami by snapping her neck. She did not pause and killed Saigai instantly, and now there was only a single puppy left in her way

Kaosu, who had proceeded to Itami and was sitting on her dead sister's body began to echo the song now.

Brook simply swiped Kaosu with her paw and smacked his head against the floor.

"Dead puppies are so much fun!" Brook laughed. "Take THAT, DAYBREAK!"

Daybreak landed with a thud behind Brook.
"You know I didn't really want them. I was playing with you. You see, I can play with your mind Brook"

"You just don't want to admit I spoiled your little plan, do you Daybreak." Brook laughed. "I stopped you, didn't I? I foiled your plan."

"I knew you'd do something stupid anyway" Daybreak admitted, "But I was bored. Bordem does these things. Now, if I were you, I'd go do something useful. wolves are dying, I predict"

"Who gives a damn about deaths? Hell, I'm planning my own right now. I might go and murder Tsuki for the fun of it - eh, Daybreak?"

"He's busy killing puppies" Daybreak commented, "He's a bugger for that when I inform him to kill someone"

"So he won't notice me." Brook said in a bright madness.

"Go ahead and try if you want" Daybreak shrugged, "I can always bring him back. Besides, I'm busy"

"Good. Because I'm out to piss off anyone possible" She replied almost brightly, and although her coat was splattered with blood she had a happy madness in her eyes.

"Insanity" Daybreak mused, "In so damned funny"

"Isn't it?" Brook replied cheerfully, then took off.
