In the Volcano

"Burn my paw?" Daybreak growled, "I'm an orginal. I don't have a paw, It's just a damned body!"

Brook gave a scream of utmost pain and began to writhe on the ground. "Kill me!" She barked. "Please, kill me!"

"Well, there's no point burning your favourite vessel, is there, mister original?" she said sweetly, as her eyes glinted.
"Oh, it seems another puppy's heart has just been petrified into coal... How amusing." she paused. "The lady-wolf should be fine, as long as she keeps writhing in pain the coal should break into pieces and come out even more easily than having a puppy anyway! It'll hurt for a while, though, as per usual. You might want to give her poppy seeds."

"I really don't care that it'll hurt her. She's just another minion. What I don't like is having to start all over again" Daybreak scowled.

"Well, deal with it," the wolf said, slightly more harshly.

"Deal with yourself" Daybreak narrowed his eyes, "And who do you think you are?"

Daybreak began to draw into the wolf's power, and channelling it towards Brook.

Brook could feel the energy but she still gave another scream of pain. And then - the coal pup.

Daybreak scowled at the pup. Everything within his power could bring the pup back to life. But he was unsure.

A powerful burning blue flame surrounded the wolf, cutting the bonds Daybreak was trying to make to her powers.
"It's no use trying to undo it, Daybreak. My power was inserted directly into my body by my creator. She's just as strong, maybe even stronger, than you - she's not going to let you control me. I'm her dolly, not yours. Besides, why chase after Brook? You already have someone who's in love with you, and you just keep trying to have puppies with measly old Brookie. Why not just have pups with her? We couldn't stop two originals, we'd be outmatched."

"Because Brook's just a damned host!" Daybreak blurted out, "It wasn't just my DNA in there. Even if some of Brook's got in..."

[And Linkin literally begged me, and I had to design them Dx]

The wolf crawled from under Daybreak and went to the coal pup. She brought her claws down on the weak material and it smashed.
"Bye, bye, dolly," she smiled as broken bits of coal pup went everywhere.
"Not all the pups have turned to coal yet. As soon as they hit the open air, the petrification should stop. Considering how big this wimp of a female's litter is, she'll probably still have one or two live ones."

With all her might, she managed a small ball of brown fur.

Daybreak just ignored the wolf now.
"Do you even have a name?"

"D-d-daybreak." Brook murmured weakly. A second ball of fur, this time, black.

Daybreak spun round.
"Yes Brook?"

"She said she'd killed three, but - look." Two pups, one with black fire wings and black fur and one with orange wings and brown fur.

"Pain and Chaos" Daybreak mused.
"I lied" He suddenly spoke.

Brook gave another scream. Purple wings. Brown fur.

Daybreak ignored Brook.
"I lied!" He shouted, his words echoing off the walls of the cave.

A last scream. This time, the earth went black and dead where the pup fell. Brook went silent, all the pups and chunks of coal expelled from her body.

"I lied. I lied. I lied" Daybreak began to turn the words into a song.

Brook collapsed, unconscious, tired, and practically dead.

Daybreak ignored them. He was stood, thinking.
Why did he create the pups? Why did he use Brook?

Brook cracked open an eye. Saigai padded up to his dad, each pawstep killing plants, turning them into charred, shrivelled sticks and turning the earth to ash. An earthworm shrivelled into a tiny corpse. He looked at his dad with round, rosy red eyes. Studying. Accusing. He stared for a long minute before he sneezed and returned to poke his mother in her eye.

Itami looked up, eyes focused on Daybreak. He ignored her still.
