Broad ledge

Polaris stirred.
"How long have we been resting?" he wondered aloud.

"Not sure." Storm admitted. "But I feel well rested." She brought the seagull over.

"Not much." She sighed

Polaris looked into the sky. Three seagulls were also flying around peacefully. He closed his eyes, enjoying the sea breeze. When he opened them, the seagulls were gone. He was surprised.
"Where did they go?" he muttered. At that moment, Pikokku emerged from his cave. He carried three medium-sized bits of meat. He dropped them near Polaris.
"Here," he said. "Have these." Polaris thanked him but couldn't help being confused. Where were those seagulls?

Storm nodded.

"How long have we been out?" She asked, politly.

"Six or seven hours," nodded Pikokku.
"Hey," Polaris nodded to Pikokku. "Can I call you Piko? Pikokku's a really long name, you know, even without the even longer bit on the end." Polaris grinned. Pikokku laughed. "Sure you can," he replied.
Polaris ate some of the meat. "We should return to Dusk Isle, really," he mused over his meal.

"Mmmm"she muttered through her own meal

Piku sighed.
"You two came from Dusk Isle?" he asked, curiously.
"Yes..." answered Polaris through a mouthful of food.
"I think I might as well have an explore round there; sounds interesting," nodded Piku to himself. "See you later."
Polaris nodded at him. "See you later, Piku." he smiled.
Piku smiled back and took off towards Dusk Isle.

"Should we have warned him of Brook? Or the twolegs?" Storm asked, concerned.

Polaris shrugged with a small smile.
"I'm sure he'll be fine, Stormy. Anyways, should we go back now?" he asked.

"I suppose so." She agreed, standing.

Polaris also got to his feet.
"Let's go, then," he nodded, before taking off from the edge of the platform.

Storm had only flown a few feet before a sudden sickness took over, and she was forced to a hover.

"Stormy?" Polaris repeated, and turned back. He saw that Stormcloud had been reduced to hovering over the platform.
"What is it?" he asked in alarm, flying back to the platform.

"I have an idea." Storm started. "But I'm not sure." She began to fly. "I think I can get back."

Polaris grabbed Stormcloud's scruff for support.
"I'll help you get back to the rock caves," he said, worrid.

Storm felt hungry and tired. Two other symptoms. She decided to wait- she might be wrong, after all.

"I-I-i'll be fine."

Polaris began slowly flying back to Dusk Isle, his eye closely on Storm.

Storm felt better and began to pick up her pace to the usual.

Piku landed on the ledge. No wolves were there any more, though his cave was as he had left it, with a few seagull feathers strewn in front. He sat in the sun of the ledge. He felt at home, yet somehow, he felt very lonely.
"Tomodachi..." he muttered. "Is every wolf in Dusk Isle... and Ashpeak... is every wolf like my mother?" he sighed. "Maybe this life of solitude is best for me, since I have managed to avoid the cruelty of the world for so many years."

Iska landed panting.
"Didn't you here me?"

Piku turned in surprise. "You're that wolf Iska... did you follow me all the way here? Did you want me for something?" he dipped his head.

"I said I'd be your friend..." she panted, "Then you flew off and...."

Piku's eyes widened with surprise.
"You'd be friends... with me?" he said, blinking.
"Piku... there's someone near your home, Piku... near the elk herds... it's Myst... and two of Dusk Isle..." a voice echoed in his head.
"I know! I can't deal with it right now!" he thought back. "Leave me alone, Kaiti... I finally have the oppertunity to make friends again..."
"Really? Good luck with that, Pipi."
"Don't call me that... please..."
