North Hunting Ground

Creekstone walked into this area and looked around. There really was nothing there except a female and her calf, and he didn't feel like giving chase. The cow saw him and nudged her baby to its feet before they both ran off. He trotted to a small puddle and drank thirstily, trying to keep mud from getting into his mouth.

When he looked up, he saw a large black and white wolf stadning in front of him. Not as big as he had seemed, long ago...
"I thought you'd never speak to me again," said Creekstone politely.
"We can choose the targets of our anger, but we cannot choose their heretige," replied Brickbone with a smile. "Albeit you are no enemy of mine."

"I'll bet." Creekstone tipped his head slightly.
"Your mother and uncle are proud of you too. If they-"
"Brickbone, I don't want to anger you, but what the hell do you want?"
There was a slight pause. "It has to do with your choice-"
"To be a loner. I thought so." Creekstone rolled his eyes. "Please tell me you aren't going to-"
"No, son. I suppose you heard about Starcliff?"
"Yeah. Wait..." Creek stared at his dad. "You aren't...you think I could be an alpha?"
"That's what I meant." Brickbone replied.

A really long silence, then-

"AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Creekstone fell over on his back laughing, and Brickbone had to sit down and laugh into his paw.

"Ahahaha...Hoo hoo....whoo...Ah, good one." Creekstone got back up, and then exploded into laughter again. By the time the two had sobered, an hour had passed.
Finally, Brickbone said, "Your mother told me to tell you that. I think she was serious, though..."
"Ah, Ma's always been a bit foolish in the head." Creekstone gave a dissmisive wave with his paw. "But anyways, is that all?"
"Not really."
"What else is new?"
"Daybreak had a pup."
Creekstone stared for a moment, then giggled. "You're kidding, right?"
"No."
"Oh."
"I heard it from Arcaii. She watched the whole birth."
"Ah." Creek fidgeted. "So, what's he gunna do?"
"I think he wanted to kill it."
"Well, a dick is always a dick."
"True."

(Ha, a dick is always a dick. So true, Creekstone.)

"Yeah, but I heard of somethinf called a 'Twinkie'..."
"Oh, yeah, those are good."

Brickbone, without warning, began to be 'blown' away, despite there being no wind. "I'll see you later."
"Bye..." Creekstone stood up and watched his father go before going to look for more water.

When he found some, he drank long after he had quenched his thirst. Keeping a pattern kept him calm, until his stomach ached with hunger. He stopped and sat down, wondering where to go next.

Eventually, he decided to go to the Elk Herds in the Ash Islands. He stood up and stretched, making a draft of air carry him off.
