Birdsong shrine

Kaiti burst out of a portal nearby, P'Taia clinging to her back. At the same time, Tsu was thrown from a potal onto the soft grass. His eyes were tight shut. Kaiti sighed.
"This land... is the only place which I hope will be spared war," she murmered. "The seperate race of wolves that I have brought up here... they are precious dolls to me."
She took Tsuruya by the scruff and dragged him into the Shrine, laying his unconscious down on the cusions. She sat next to him, watching him.
"You worry about Brook, just like she worried about you. It's...amusing..."

Kaiti, while flying over to find Daybreak, had found Tsu and dragged him by force into her realm, hastily deciding this would prevent her sister as using him as a tool. She was fond of the young wolf, for he had been a friend to her and Piku when they had lived on te ledge together. Besides that, she wanted to stop her sister at all costs.
"Now, all we need is Brook." she chuckled, settling herself on the cushions in the shrine, looking lazily out of the entrance.

The shrine was built solely for providing a bedding space for Kaiti when she visited, and wasn't very big. It was like a large stone cushioned box big enough for three wolves surrounded by apricot trees; one of the walls could be swung open for entrance and locked using sound waves to keep out rain and wind. As it was a sunny day, Kaiti left the entrance open, and watched her daughter play about with the leaves as she rested.

Brook suddenly threw herself through the entrance. She'd prayed that Kaiti and Daybreak were close enough that Kaiti could keep the portal open. She was correct, and landed with a solid thump.

And just in time, too- the portal closed bhind her with a bright flash. P'Taia gazed at Brook in amazement. The birds, however, were seemingly undisturbed; they continued serenading the newcomer with beautiful birdsong. Kaiti burst out laughing.
"How clever of you to manage to get into the one place guaranteed with safety!" she congratulated, not moving from her lying position a little way from Tsu in the cushioned shrine.

"Oh?" Brook said, leaning over to lick her wounds. "I just hoped my reactions were quick enough to get away."

As the portal closed, the blade came through. Something was obvious that Daybreak had not followed.

"Ha!" Brook laughed, picking up the sword. "He failed miserably."

Kaiti raised an eyebrow at the blade.
"Daybreak sure enjoys playing with you," she mused, before patting the cushions between her and the sleeping Tsu with one paw. "Take a rest. If you have to go back, you might not be able to have another one for a while."

Daybreak appeared, eyeing Brook with narrowed eyes.

Brook simply curled up next to Tsu tiredly. He didn't deserve a reaction from her, she decided.

Daybreak picked up his blade.
"Why Kaiti, why?"

Kaiti at once leapt off her cushions and onto Daybreak, almost bowling him over in excitement.
"You came to see me!" she barked, licking him enthusiastically. "...Well, even if you didn't, I'm glad you're here!"
P'Taia stoped messing around with her leaf and leapt easily onto her dad's back.

Daybreak fell onto his back, and grunted. He knew irritably this was giving Brook time to recover.

Brook yawned, gave him a sly smile, and put her muzzle next to Tsu and promptly appeared to fall asleep.

Kaiti snuggled up to Daybreak comfortably on the grass.
"Why?" she echoed. "Well, it's more amusing when your victim isn't helpless," Kaiti remarked, giggling as P'Taia clambered up onto Daybreak's head.

"Wouldn't it be more amusing for her to sleep on hard ground?" Daybreak commented.

"Anything you like," Kaiti replied, idly removing a tick from Daybreak's ear with her teeth.

"To you like my ears?" Daybreak asked randomly.

"I like all of you," Kaiti remarked with a small laugh. "But your ears are what you hear with. They're precious."
P'Taia climbed down from her father's back and sat between his legs, promptly falling asleep.

"I like your ears" Daybreak licked Kaiti's ears.

"Why thank you," chuckled Kaiti. She suddenly froze.
"I can sense something." she murmered. "I'm picking up soundwaves from somewhere. I believe someone is planning to try and break into my realm." she narrowed her eyes. "One of the originals."

"Probably Neon." Brook yawned, then poked Tsu roughly.

Tsu opened one eye.
"Wha... where's Brook..."

"I'm placing bets on Cynder" Daybreak grunted, standing up.

"I'm here." Brook murmured.

"Why? Honestly, why Cynder? I thought she'd gone into hibernation in the Timeless Realm."
