The White Queen

"What good is a broken toy, Daybreak?" came a soft voice from behind him. Out of the wall slipped Kaiti, like a silent mint-and-white ghost. "This is your favourite toy. Why did you break it?" she sighed.
"Apose has taken the younger sister, and you have the older one. This is turning out to be quite amusing," she remarked. "However, surely the fun is removed when the toy is blind?" she paused.
"Anyway, our son has gone out into the world. He seems to have an... interesting power. I want to see what he does with it; it might be fun."

P'Taia squeaked from Kaiti's back, trying to catch her father's ear.
"I decided to return to my realm for a bit," said Kaiti, unexpectedly. "I'm taking P'Taia back to my realm, if you have no problems with that. I spent many years there and it is my most treasured place, now my sister has destroyed my orchard. I want our daughter to see it. I myself have not been to my realm for fifty years now."
She leaned forward to nibble affectionately on Daybreak's ear.
"I wouldn't mind if you lent me that toy now and again. She looks interesting."

"That was an accident" Daybreak confessed, and with a twitch of his tail, Brook's vision restored itself.
"Protect your realm well, my dear" Daybreak responded, "I have a feeling the little minions are conspiring" He licked Kaiti's muzzle.

"Kaiti?" Brook guessed. He fear was doubled at the fact that it was only a guess. Then... SNAP! She could see

Kaiti responded by licking all over Daybreak's face.
"You've got blood on your face," she murmered, but knowing that really, she just wanted an excuse to taste his scent. She really did love him.
"Make sure to watch out for our son. He might do something interesting." she laughed lightly, before turning to Brook.
"You are the daughter of my sister's slave?" she asked a rhetorical question, inspecting her blood-matted fur and firey wings. "I have your mate, I believe... he is in my realm."
She turned briefly back to Daybreak to drop an apricto at his feet before bidding her goodbyes and vanishing in a shroud of peach-coloured mist.

Daybreak bowed as Kaiti left, picking up the apricot.

"Tsu?" Brook said hollowly. Another rhetorical question.

Daybreak ignored her, padding over to his discarded blade.

Brook blinked softly, then curled up on the floor. She wasn't scared or anything, she was just really tired.

"Daughter of my sister's slave. Cape is dead, as far as I know so..." With a sinking feeling she realized she wasn't getting the phoenix's help any time soon.

"Your family is in our hands Brook. Is it wise to defy us?" Daybreak picked up the blade.

"No."

And she took off and disappeared into thin air.

Daybreak watched her ascend, and threw the blade directly at her chest. She could not leave his realm.

As the portal snapped shut, Daybreak flicked his tail in disgust. But if Kaiti, lower than him, could access his realm, he could get to hers. He smiled, and vanished.

Creekstone felt himself jolted and looked around in surprise.

Daybreak loomed over, a massive grin spreading across his face.

Looking up, his eyes widened and he flinched at the malice in Daybreak's face. "What the hell is going on?"

"I need to remove one of the four." Daybreak said coldly.

"Wait...what?!" Instinctively, Creekstone took a few steps back.

"I want to play games before I dispose of you."

He bristled and growled, but his eyes showed terror.

Daybreak smirked, picking up a rust stained blade.

Creekstone didn't know what the thing in Daybreak's jaw was, but he saw its sharpness. He took another step backwards.

Daybreak took a step forwards, the blade glinting under the rust.
"You can't run."

He knew this, but he suddenly turned and ran, racing around the squares. Had he been able to leave, he would have disappeared in a moment, but all he could do was simply run in a large circle.

"I can make this easy, or hard." Daybreak frowned, placing the blade on the floor, watching Creekstone run, "Which do you prefer?"
