The White Queen

Daybreak walked though the wall, an picked up a discarded blade.

Nasiar dragged Brook inside, then spat, "Be a good little fire-demon."

Brook snorted to her contempt

"You are dismissed" Daybreak nodded to Naisar.

"Alright." Nasair nodded, then headed back out into Daybreak's realm

"It's been awhile since I used this" Daybreak commented, testing the blade in his mouth.

"Really." Brook tried to keep her voice even. Panic bubbled in her throat like blood.

Daybreak walked over towards her, and rested a blade on her cheek, pressing it gently.
"So, tell me Brook, what is your ultimate aim in life?"

"I don't have an aim. To live as long as physically possible I s'ppose." Brook said softly.

Daybreak spun the blade around, letting it drop and catching it in his tail, purposly, letting it slide down Brook's leg before he caught it.
"All mortals want the same thing" He smirked, "But, what else do you want?"

"Dunno. World peace? I never had any real ambitions."

Never, she thought hollowly.

Daybreak laughed, and turned to walk away. But then, he spun on his paws and thrust the blade forwards.

Brook leaped back, but the blade pierced her shoulder. She let out an agonized grunt.

"The point of that being?"

"Because I'm bored of you already" Daybreak muttered, throwing the blade in the air and catching it neatly between his teeth. He began to circle her then.
"So, what were you doing at Moonriver?"

"Seeing Silvermask about Featherkite." Brook lied.

"Ah, Silvermask is getting old. It's about time Moonriver got off their lazy asses and did something useful. You were seeking their help" Daybreak corrected, drawing a smiley face on Brook's back with the tip of the knife.

"Yes." Brook said, but not saying why.

"And Moonriver, being all heroic, said yes" Daybreak chortled, adding on the mouth to the face.

"But why?" Brook taunted.

"Why, what?" Daybreak lifted his blade, and put the point to her face, wondering wether to scribe "Lier" there.

"Why was I going to Moonriver? Maybe it's just my tattered mind taking me there."

(Doooo eeet. Scribe liar on her. Not just on her cheek though. Lots of places.)

"Because you can't go to Sunwood, and Starcliff is a mess. You don't need me to tell you that" Daybreak brought down the blade, and scribed.

Brook howled and leaped back, banging against the wall of the chamber.


"Why did I do it? Hmm?" She said.

"Face too painful? You handled the smiley on you're back" Daybreak, paced over to her, throwing the blade to his tail and pulling her up, using his tail to scribe "Liar" across her stomach.
"You tell me, Liar"

Brook squirmed, wriggling away. Her mind worked. "Daybreak, why a chessboard? It seems rather foolish."
