The Base of Operations

As Chessru stumbled blindly forward, he felt a firm grip on his neck, a snarl, and a crunch. In the haze, Chessru rolled onto the floor weakly, tossing, exposing his white belly. He felt a pain there, and gasped out in pain.

Piku kept a firm hold of Chessru and began to drag him back towards the fence.

"Aha!" Chessru yelled and twisted firmly.

Piku laid Chessru on the grass and licked his belly wound gently, clearing away the blood.
"Calm down," he sighed. "You've got a pretty bad injury. You almost got killed back there by humans..."

"Geroff!" Chessru growled, rolling over, headbutting the other wolf in the progress. There was blood in his eyes...Chessru couldn't see...He ran away again, aimless.
From what he's seen in the 'Armory' the Two-legs were building something. Something big enough to destro Dusk Isle...
He was struck to the floor by something...and Chessru rolled to one side instictivly. Something fell on his head. And he blacked out...

Piku raised the paw he had hit Chessru with.
"Honestly." he growled. "No peace for the good, as the saying goes. Or was it something else?..."
Piku got a firm hold of Chessru by his scruff and front paws before flying away from the twoleg boundary, towards the lakeside in the darkplains.

The twolegs pushed Brook into a pen, then closed the gate. Wings pinned to her side, muzzled, she felt bad.

Brook... Brook... a voice whispered in her head. Don't give up... I love you...

Taiyo? Her little sister's voice was comforting.

They've taken my fire. She said sadly.

The voice laughed. It is I; your father. Remember, Brook... the fire of your love never goes out.

Thankyou. She thought. She scanned the skies. Her wings were dull brown, and were wearing down.

If I don't get my fire back soon, I won't have any wings left Brooksat down. She remembered the Pheonix tales, how if a phoenix lost it's fire it lost its plummage.

Brook... see if you can break out of your bonds, then I shall help your wings stay alight until you find your fire. the voice commanded.

Brook sighed in uttermost relief. Her wingfeathers were thinning out quickly, and she had littletime left. She couldn't even breath fire without her own fire inside her. She couldn't help feeling a little down; maybe this was the outcome of her fire-loss. She was angry with herself. Why did she let herself into this mess?

She gave a sigh and caught her bond against a nail in the fence. Then something growled, out of vision, to the right. Another joined, then another. Three dogs had escaped the pens from the centre on fire and she was the closest thing to them. She slowly unhooked herself. Claws were her only availible weapon to her. She felt sick.

That fire might be useful right around now. After all, her muzzle was not fireproof, seen as they'd changed it after removing her fire.

The leader snarled.

"Freshmeat. We'll getcha."

Brook panicked uncharecteristically. She snarled. "Make it a fair fight then." She rebuked. The dog laughed.

"No." The three dogs leapt, digging in their claws and biting. She howled.

Chessru landec on a Dog's back and tore the back of it's throat. It fell back, gasping for breaths.

Brook's wings suddenly lit up with large, dancing blue flames, similar to the shield that had guarded Taiyo in the volcano earlier. Fire seemed to light up inside of her; for the voice was re-enabling her to breath fire, well, at least, his fire.
Do not worry, Brook. I will not let you die. the voice sounded protective and determined. Fight on, my daughter.

Chessru finished off the dog, and leapt onto a second, pinning it dow with a shower of water.

Brook blasted her muzzle and bounds off.

The third dog whimpered and raced off with it's tail between it's legs.

Brook gave a sigh.

Chessru returned to get Taiyo off a box, just as Silvermask arrived.

"Hello Silvermask" Brook greeted. She felt a little better, if hollow, and her wings burned blue instead of orange.
