The Bridge

"Certainly one of us couldn't defeat the first." Featherkite shrugged, "I think out job was to merely restrain Daybreak and set him back on his tasks of taking the dead. I mean, as soon as he forgets about his duties, the dead are walking all over us - back to life!"

"I don't think that's possible anymore. Surely a year ago that might have been an option." Cynder said softly. "I can't find Kohaku using my computer. I suggest we direct our efforts onto finding Brook. I suggest we begin in Winter Country. I might be able to beam us into the Carnation Valley, but no closer to Kaiti's shrine."

"Then let's go."

Cynder set up the small portal, which crackled to life.

"Lieutenant, we'll be gone for a short while. Keep everything in check whilst we're gone. Oh, and set up a flame-proof quarter for our half-phoenix friend."

The drone buzzed and nodded, then wandered off to continue his duties.

The door of the bridge clicked open, and what appeared to be another drone emerged. But it wasn't, and it obviously had cream fur. Although, it didn't look natural, with the splattered markings.
"I finished the upgrades to the phase can-" The voice broke off."

Creekstone tilted his head slightly.

"Thankyou, Cout'av." Cynder said, stiffly. "Much appreciated. Can you see if you can fix external sensors?"

"Yes Captain." Cout'av responded dryly, eyeing the guests thoughtfully. Featherkute's fur prickled.

"These are my guests. Relay a message that they're a little.. picky, too. Thanks." Cynder nodded, then turned to her guests. "To Winter Country it is, then! We might have Kaiti to deal with, and if we're even more unlucky the number-four himself."

Featherkite and Chessru stood ready, and nodded to Cynder.

"What about...him?" Cout'av nodded to the unconscious figure of Shadow.

"I shall call sickbay." She sighed. "Another thing for you to do Cout'av, is to send a message to me when this furball does waken."

"Certainly ma'am." Cout'av dipped his head, "But I advise you take me with you. My expertise could be valuable."

"Alright, tell Lieutenant 3165 to take your order."

She contacted Sickbay via a comm. panel, ordering the Doctor program to keep Shadow in the Decon chamber. She cut the signal without waiting for a reply.

"To Winter Country then!"

And with a flash, Cynder leaped through the portal into Winter Country.

Cout'av stepped in, followed by Chessru and Featherkite side by side.

Creekstone trotted after.
